ActivityBorn in Lasswade, Midlothian on 23 April 1867, he was educated at George Wilson's College in Edinburgh and studied medicine at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 1892. He held several medical positions in Edinburgh before focussing his career on psychiatric medicine in 1894, taking a position at the Royal Edinburgh Hospital. In 1900 he qualified M.D. and became a member of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh. He was then appointed Medical Superintendent at Ayr District Asylum in 1902, where he stayed until 1908 when he took up post as Physician Superintendent at Crichton Royal Institution in Dumfries. His time at Crichton Royal saw him continue the work of his predecessor, Dr J. Rutherford, in expanding the hospital, increasing patient and staff accommodation and facilities, and initiating the building of a large multi-purpose recreation hall, completed in 1938, the year after his retirement, and named Easterbrook Hall. After he retired he set to work compiling a comprehensive history of Crichton Royal, 'The Chronicle of Crichton Royal', from its inception in 1833 to his final full year there in 1936, covering all aspects of hospital administration and life. Dr C. C. Easterbrook died in Edinburgh on 5 June 1949.
