William Bannerman - Girl in a Landscape

Inscription on reverse reads, '11 Feby 1861. The production of I. [or J.] Bannerman, now in Elgin Asylum, formerly in Millholme, Musselburgh. He had commenced an apprenticeship as an Engineer in Oban, when Mania occurred. It was attributed to evil practices; and was followed by stupidity and dullness. He is now regarded as convalescent. This and 2 and 3 of the series and a vast number of similar attempts were executed during insanity'.
This picture is mounted on the same board as DGH1/7/3/1/90.
