TitleMale Case Books
DescriptionNew series of Case Books created after the merging of Crichton Royal Institution and Southern Counties Asylum into the First and Second Houses of Crichton Royal Institution in November 1884. Case notes of those male patients still resident at this time were transferred into the first two volumes of Male Case Books. Volumes comprise printed forms containing details of patient admission, clinical and family history, and mental and physical condition followed by dated case note entries containing information about patient progress and treatment. Volumes contain case notes for both private and pauper patients, however five volumes covering 1891-1913, DGH1/5/21/3/14-18, contain mostly private patients and are assumed to be the Case Books of the First House/Crichton Hall for that period. These five volumes are listed after volumes 1-13, 1840-1913 and are followed by volumes dated 1914-1937.
