TitleNotice from Robert Adamson with enclosed Remonstrance and Protest
DescriptionIncludes a copy letter from Rev. Dr William Stevenson of South Leith outlining his objections to the appointment of a Roman Catholic as Assistant Matron and stating that the matter will be brought before the public if the Remonstrance fails to accomplish its objectives. This copy letter has been damaged and a section of text is missing. Also enclosed is the Remonstrance and Protest to the Trustees and Directors of the Crichton Royal Institution, further detailing objections and with the signatures of 50 protesters who include members of the Royal Colleges of Physicians and Surgeons; Protestant Clergymen, and Professors of Surgery, Midwifery, Mathematics and Theology.
