TitleState of the Management and Intromissions of James Crichton's Trustees
DescriptionIncluded are the general points of bequests and information on the dissolution of the estate. This is followed by the Accounts of the appointed Factors, Mr John Commelin (Banker), from 3 May 1823 to 19 May 1835; Mr Robert Adamson (Banker and later the first Treasurer and Secretary of Crichton Royal Institution) from 19 May 1835 to 12 November 1840; and Mr Thomas Manners, (Writer Signet) as at 7 August 1823. These contain all credits and debits concerning James Crichton's estate, the disposal of funds and those allocated for charitable means, including the construction and establishment of Crichton Royal Institution. Details are given of legacies, bequests and annuities to family members and friends, and also bequests by Mrs Elizabeth Crichton with approbation of the other Trustees. This is followed by the General State of the Management and Intromissions of the Trustees and Executors from Mr Crichton's death on 3 May 1823 to 12 November 1840. Also contained are the early accounts for Crichton Royal Institution until November 1840.
