DescriptionSmall book of verse written by patient M. W., Matilda Whittenbury. The work, which comprises 21 verses, was composed in Crichton Royal Institution and printed at the Crichton Press by William Shields. The book is dedicated to Dr W. A. F. Browne.

On the inside cover there is an envelope containing a letter to Dr C. C. Easterbrook from Sir James Crichton-Browne, dated 16 April 1929. The letter notes that the book of verse was found in James Crichton-Browne's sister's home at Langlands and that he is passing it on to Dr C. C. Easterbrook. It also mentions that a brother of the Poet Laureate, Tennyson, was a patient at Crichton Royal Institution and that James Crichton-Browne had come across some verses by him addressed to his mother.
